New Vacancy: Lead Developer


This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Developer to join the team at Techquity. As Lead Developer, you will be expected to hit the ground running and be involved in hands on development work for our ecommerce clients,  alongside working with key stakeholders to help define development strategy.  As you will be leading our team of developers, it’s important that you’re comfortable managing the workload of the team, to ensure projects are completed as efficiently as possible.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Build, develop and implement new modules, bespoke functionality and third party integrations
  • Communicate directly with clients & third parties, providing comprehensive updates both internally and externally
  • Lead and support the team of developers, including mentoring and training junior team members, and acting as a point of escalation for complex queries where required 
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality and technical approach taken by team members follows the company standards
  • Provide accurate estimates for completion of assigned development activities, and alert the Project Manager in good time of any risks to agreed deadlines
  • Identify opportunities to resolve commonly encountered client and technical issues, and develop strategies for their resolution 
  • Support the maintenance of platform modules, ensuring updates and improvements are rolled out in a strategic manner
  • Required to review pull requests in GitHub and quality check code written by others
  • Work with Operations Manager on processes and procedures to improve operational efficiency within development
  • Research industry tools, frameworks and methodologies - presenting new opportunities for improvements and growth to the CEO and development team


Personal spec

  • PHP / Laravel knowledge
  • Vue.js / JavaScript knowledge (desirable)
  • MySQL Database knowledge
  • Composer Package Development (desirable)
  • Experience of developing using a local environment (Valet, Docker)
  • GitHub experience
  • Ability to manage own time and work to deadlines, as well as manage workload of others
  • Good communication skills, confident with both internal and external communication
  • Experience working in the ecommerce industry, preferably to a high level
  • A team player who can embrace challenge and grow in a fast paced environment
